StepUP project results disseminated at the SDEWES Conference

The StepUP project was presented during the 19th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES) celebrated from 8 – 12 of September in Rome (Italy).

David Masip, PhD candidate at the Department of Architectural Technology at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), participated in the Special Session “Off-Site Construction: Challenges and Prospects for Supporting the Energy Transition” presenting the paper “Assessing the construction process of a Plug-and-Play façade system for deep renovation”, which introduces the main advances and results of StepUP.

The paper presented focused on showcasing the assessment of the construction process of a Plug-and-Play system for deep renovation in two real case scenarios: an early adopter building in Budapest and a demonstration case building in Pamplona, with the objective to validate the implementation of the PnP façade in different scenarios and test different levels of technological integration and pre-assembly.

This research was carried out in collaboration with Grazia Marrone from Politecnico di Milano, Irene Ràfols from Eurecat, Marta Lupi and Rocco Traini from Manni Group and Maria Ibañez from ACR.

The 19th SDEWES Conference was dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge on methods, policies and technologies for increasing the sustainability of development by de-coupling growth from the use of natural resources and by a transition to a knowledge-based economy.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 847053.
