Grazia Marone, PhD Candidate at the Politecnico di Milano, conducting her research in collaboration with MANNI Group, delivered a presentation about StepUP off-site industrialised system at the New Frontiers of Construction Management Workshop , held in Ravenna the past November 7th and 8th 2024.
The presentation, titled “Off-site Industrialized Systems for Building Renovation: Implementing Plug and Play Facades in the Construction Process”, explained the building renovation process using a Plug and Play facade developed during the StepUP project highlighting constraints and barriers identified among the entire construction process.
The objective of the research presented was twofold: to enhance the knowledge of plug & play technologies construction process through practical field applications, and, on another hand to provide practical insights from two pilot projects carried out in Spain and Hungary, encompassing predesign, design, manufacturing, and on-site installation phases.
This work contributes to the existing research by detailing the application of an OSC industrialized system. It sheds light on the practical challenges and constraints when implementing plug & play technologies for building renovation, thereby identifying potential areas of improvement throughout the entire construction process and its phases.
The 2024 edition of the New Frontiers of Construction Management continues the valuable gatherings of academics and industry representatives that started in 2013. Ravenna CMW workshops are forums for presentations of latest valuable research-based knowledge and developments that are touching construction management. The mission of these workshops is to provide steppingstones for further advancements of construction management with the innovations, breakthrough results and discussions.
